MOVIE REVIEW:THE WRESTLER..

Since the release of this movie in us,i had heard a lot of appreciation about this movie...Usually whenever i watch a movie i am pretty what the movie would deliver...but this one took me by complete surprise..i expected it to be a boring biography of a wrestler..and god,how wrong i was...this movie straight away made it to the list of my all time favourite movies...

randy "ram"(rourke) is an aged wrestler who has had a glorious career which cost him a lot including a broken relationship with his daughter.At this age,its becoming more and more difficult to fight.So,he is looking for other alternatives.He is completely alone and struggling with his life.only person he can talk to is a strip dancer cassidy(marisa tomei) who herself is having a hard time raising her son....After a match,randy suffers major injuries and doctors inform him that fighting further could lead to his death due to heart failure...
Randy cancels all his fights and inform the agents that he is retiring,therby leaving a fight which was going to be 20 yr celebration of his career.
Randy decides to look for other jobs as well as his daughter to do away with his loneliness..After initial tiff,both manage to get back together and decide to have dinner together on coming saturday.As usual randy goes to meet Casssidy and asks her to to quit her job to come with him.But she refuses and tells him that he is just a customer for him.Following this,randy gets heavily drunk and could not make it for the dinner with his daughter.When he goes to her to apologize ,she asks him to leave and says that she will never see his face in her life..
Dejected randy calls his agents to tell them that he is ready for the fight...meanwhile,cassidy quits her job and tries to stop randy from fighting on the match day..Randy tells her that no one in this whole world gives a s*** about him..and his fans are his true family.He enters the ring and has a painful fight.The movie concludes as randy waves to the crowd and performs his famous ram jam....

The biggest thing which works in the favour of this movie is its climax which is supposedly one of the best movie climaxes i have ever seen.Rourke gives an impeccable performance and deserves an oscar.Marisa tomei is outstanding in her role.The only turn off is excessive nudity which could have been done without.But everything is overcome by fabulous performances and screenplay.Arofonsky proves his worth as a director once again after requeim for a dream and pi.....This movie is easily one of the top three movies of the year..

VERDICT:-> a must watch

RATING:->6.5/7

KNOW THE GADGET!!

In the middle of the last year..there was one mobile phone which was the center of attraction for everyone in india..New nokia e-71 was launched.After doing well for six months,its being considered one of the best E-series phones. Talking about the phone, lets check out the various parameters

Design:->

Nokia E71 is slim and stream-line form. Body is covered with chrome.Though buttons do not look very good aesthetically,but they provide faster typing assistance

Screen
:->
There is a 320×240 screen on the E71. It’s really bright and all text is easy to read. Photos and video look good.However, not so good as compared to N95. All text, photos and other go easy with the eyes.

Connectivity :->

Very important thing for business class phone. It supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE with 850MHz/1900MHz UMTS/HSDPA. By the way it has Wi-Fi 802.11 a,b,g, Bluetooth 2.0, and GPS.fullpoints toE-71 for that.

E-mail:->

E71 supports POP3/IMAP protocols, has “easy-to-setup” mail program. it does not have a support of HTML Email.But that is no big deal.

Sound:->

This isn’t Music Express phone so it does not have best quality. But E71 plays louder than older E61. Music sounds really clear and well. louder Alarm will make you get up faster than earlier, this phone won't let for you sleep as long as you want.

Usage:->E71 is easy to use. Nice keyboard lets you write SMS, emails really fast. Long battery’s worktime makes all this features more useful. 3.2 megapixel camera, micro SD slot increase value for this phone. Its recommended to buy this phone other phones and price makes you are searching business class phone with many features which will let to you feel like working with computer at a better price.

L.T.T.E(leading to THE END)

So,the battle has entered its final phase.The things which Sri Lankan army had been trying to do have taken shape after 22 years.After taking control over kilinochchi earlier this year which was considered to be gateway to the castle of LTTE followed the capturing of famous Elephant pass.Army then focussed on destroying the passage the LTTE used to gain control over the area and influence people in the area.so,they carried out a dreadful attack on kandy-jafna A-9 road thereby ending the lifeline of LTTE..and imagine what they r planning to open this road again for civilian traffic within one month.....THE tables have turned, LTTE is begging for ceasefire but in vain.ALL these successfull acts are the results of adroit planning of Sri lankan army..Their plan basically is built on three fronts..55 divisio coming from jaffna which has blocked the way to a key tiger base,another is the 58 division advancing along A35 road and the third major front is 59 division causing assault to the jungles..The three separate task forces are acting on this.Besides this,six LTTE airstrips have been captured...this shows how powerful these guys were with establishng air capabilities...The army is giving nightmares to LTTE..Its time for everyone to just wait and watch the final battle in Mullathivu but wait is not going to be shorter as the biggest issue here is the presence 3.5 lakhs innocent civilians which r trapped in the war zone..they r being used by LTTE for cover..We just hope army makes sure to minimise the loss of innocent lives and triumphs over evil....The dream of PRABHAKARAn for the ealem is about to be shattered, kicking him back where he stood 23 years back.....

FLASHBACK<<

Usually i don't write about myself on this blog but there is this one experience i would like to share.It was march 2008 and we just got over with the sessionals..Holi was two days away.A plan for a goa trip came up from nowhere.initially a gang of 5 was about to leave but mukut got this fracture and the other guy refused to go for uncitable reasons:).so the day arrived,and me,umang and nirnay left for goa.We had been mulling about this trip as this was supposed to be our first trip to goa.
We reached thivim in wee hours of morning ,moved to panji and got a bus to CALANGUTE...This was the time of desparation and uneasiness fo
r us.We,being inexperienced customers had a tough time looking for the rooms and then the vehicles. We kept mooching around on the streets for hours.
To cut the long story short,we somehow got settled and had two activas with us.Frustration was on its pea
k and not getting an entry in mambos added fuel to the fire.But that could not bring down the spirits of hypers like us.We decided to go to panji next day.That was our first holi in goa,we put the teeka and left for panji.As the group was blessed with my presence ,so luck preferred to shy away from us.All sorts of things started to happen..it started raining,umang got lost,my phone stopped working and nirnay started cursing..BY the afternoon things started to fall in place and we had some good time visiting cathedrals in panji and one or two forts here and there.We were completely focused on visiting the locales of goa instead of going to any pubs or lounges as we already had a tough night before....But for us something was surely missing ...something extraordinary should happen in goa...we knew we were being unrealistic..may be because we did not even know why did we come to goa..we did not have anything special in mind..

So we decided to visit Chapora fort(the famous scene from DIL CHAHTA HAI was shot here)..After
making a ride of around 12 kms we reached there only to find out that it was too dark to visit the fort...nothing was visible ..Dejected by the circumstances we moved back to hotel and went to sleep...we decided to get up early next morning as we were supposed to leave for panji next afternoon..I was particularly adamant about visiting chapora fort before leaving goa....so at 0430 next morning,we left for Chapora,..it was bit cold but we went on without feeling anything as we had already suffered a lot..somehow we reached there..no one was too be seen around...
AND wat we were supposed to witness was something out of this world...i am not a poet so i would better let the pictures describe the view....but these moments really made our trip ...i can't express how i felt to be present in that wonderful sight of nature..i had not seen anything so beautiful in my life..THE seamless sky painted in blue blessed with the company of the sun and moon at the same time.What a spectacle it was...we were left mesmerised.....left us speechless..

We had our breakfast at a shack on CALANGUTE beach and left for manipal with smiles on our faces...the trip finally had something to cheer about...

END OF THE ERA OF AUSSIES' DOMINANCE:AN OVERSTATEMENT??

KANGAROOS,a bunch of 11 odd guys being hailed by everyone in 2007 for winning the world cup thrice in a row.How could one not remember the papers carrying the photos of the austrailian great ricky ponting and his team lifting that icc world cup trophy and declaring that these guys will rule the cricket world for at least another decade..This run of dominance cotinued both in tests and one dayers till end of 2007.As figures suggest aussies had lost only 4 one dayers out of 27 they played and 1 test match out 12 they played from sept 2006 to sept 2007.
They tasted their first major defeat when they lost a test match and cb series to india in early 2008 after already losing to zimbambwe in t20 world cup in 2007.But the reason sought for this was the sudden retirement of some of the senior players and fatigue.This was followed by thrashing of bangladesh and west indies at their homes before in form aussies met india in sept 2008.This was the series that raised questions over the policies of the management of CA and ponting being an uninspiring captain as aussies were outplayed by quality indian side resulting in their conceding the test series 2-0 .
Punter praised india for their quality and admitted that they were the better side.
Before people could react to the series aussies caught the new zeland side off their feet by beating them 2-0 in two match series.
But aussies were still under scrutiny after symonds fiasco before a tough SA tour came up and unexpectedly aussies were beaten on their soil after 17 years and they were criticized for their poor squad selection.They started the third test as "underdogs".
If someone caefully observed this match would easily understand the point i want to make,on the fourth day aussies were 267/6 and then came a decision(this made me ricky ponting's fan) which showed how much faith and confidence did ricky ponting had in his side as he decided to declare the innings.This left SA with a target of 309 on last day as SA ended 4th day with 67/1.Aussies won the match and one could see the intensity in the celebrations.They went on to win next two t20 s convincingly and are 1-1 level in odi series.
I think its too early to pass a judgement about aussies as they r still not lacking in terms of quality and confidence their player have.They have a lower win-loss ratio in last eight months as compared to their previous years but thats the part of the game and i believe this side is still capable of beating any side in the world anywhere for at least few years to come.I also belong to the larger lot who don't like to see aussies winning but that doesn't change the reality!!
